CANOEING

DAY TOUR

Canoeing is a true nature experience that combines skill, teamwork, and good partners. Since a canoe can’t be paddled alone, one of the greatest joys is sharing the journey, aughing together, having fun, and paddling and chatting side by side.

On the Alta River, you’ll find many calm sections, but there are also occasional waves and rapids. Capsizing can happen, but it’s never dramatic, everyone wears a life jacket, and we’ve gone through how to handle any situation safely. Afterwards, it becomes part of the fun, shared around the fire while your socks dry. It’s wise to bring an extra set of clothes. In summer, the water is milder (up to 16 °C) and the river level low, keeping the current gentle and enjoyable.

This journey takes us along the lower stretches of the scenic Alta Valley and the Alta River. The landscape is a mix of coniferous and broadleaf forests, as well as cultural and agricultural areas. Canoeing brings you close to the wildlife, watch for white-tailed sea eagles, ducks, and, if you’re lucky, the majestic king of the forest, the moose.

The river journey is also a culinary adventure. We aim to serve delicious food, preferably grilled over an open fire on the riverbank. Lunch is included, and the menu may feature fish soup, the traditional Sami festive dish biđus, a moose burger, or salmon. The meal is prepared over the open fire and enjoyed out in the great outdoors.
