ADVENTURE HOST — DOG SLEDDING & NORTHERN LIGHTS GUIDE

ADVENTURE HOST — DOG SLEDDING & NORTHERN LIGHTS GUIDE

Season: November 2026 — March 2027

Our philosophy: The Holmen Way

About the Role

You arrive in September as a musher. The first two months are the yard — daily dog care, sled preparation, and guiding training. You learn the dogs. You learn the trails. From November, you become the face of the guest experience: leading dog sled tours, guiding northern lights hunts, working reception shifts, and bringing the Holmen story to life in the lavvo after every tour.

A valid Kjøreseddel is required before the November start date. Please confirm this in your application.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Lead dog sled tours as Host & Lead Guide — daily tours and group tours.
  • Conduct safety briefings and deliver authentic storytelling in the lavvo post-tour
  • Guide northern lights hunt tours — evening departures, aurora reading, fire stops
  • Cover reception shifts — guest check-ins and bookings via Checkfront
  • Carry out daily yard routines — morning soup, feeding, cleaning, and dog care
  • Rotate on night watch for guest and dog yard safety

What We’re Looking For

  • Valid Kjøreseddel — this is a firm requirement
  • Experience with sled dogs, kennels, or working animals in a guiding context
  • Natural in front of people — not performing, just present
  • Able to hold a group in a lavvo and make them feel something
  • Safety-conscious and calm when things go wrong
  • Comfortable driving at night in Arctic conditions
  • Fluent English — additional languages a strong advantage

Trial Period

All new crew members begin with a one-month trial period during the musher phase. You'll shadow experienced guides, gradually taking on guest-facing responsibilities while receiving regular feedback and support.

Life at Holmen

The lodge runs seasonally:

  • Autumn (September–November): Preparation, onboarding, and pre-season setup
  • Winter (November–April): Full tour and lodge season — the kitchen runs at full capacity
  • Spring/Summer (April–August): Off-season rest and recovery

What We Offer

  • Accommodation on-site or in a neighbouring property (private bedroom) — from September
  • Access to a staff car and local gym
  • The opportunity to work at the heart of one of Europe's leading dogsledding lodges.
  • Competitive seasonal compensation (based on experience and year at Holmen)

Ready for the Adventure?

If you want to live and work at the edge of the Arctic, lead guests through experiences they will carry for the rest of their lives, and be part of a team that chose to be here — we'd love to hear from you.

Apply by sending a motivational letter and CV to post@holmenhusky.no marked «Position application» in subject.

Application deadline: 15 June 2026. Interview rounds start 16 June.
