Experienced Musher Wanted

We are currently looking to fill two "Musher" positions for the coming winter season.
Start ideally in October, latest November, and stretched to April 2026.

Our philosophy: The Holmen Way

About the Role

As a musher at Holmen Husky, you’ll lead guests on unforgettable dog sledding tours, care for your own team of 24 huskies, and work closely with fellow mushers to ensure the health, safety, and happiness of every dog. From daily excursions to longer expeditions, this is a hands-on role that blends hard work, adventure, and deep connection with animals and nature.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Guide dog sledding tours (daily and extended) based on a rotating 5-day schedule
  • Maintain the well-being, training, and medical care of your dog team
  • Participate in all seasonal cruise tours with the dogs
  • Take part in night watch duties on a rotating basis
  • Join weekly team meetings for planning and safety evaluations

What We’re Looking For

  • Former experience with working animals
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to team collaboration
  • Passion for dogs and outdoor living
  • Physical and emotional resilience
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Ability to live and work in close quarters with a small team

Trial Period

All new mushers begin with a one-month trial period. This time allows both you and our team to evaluate whether the role and lifestyle are a good fit. You’ll learn by shadowing experienced mushers, gradually taking on more responsibility while receiving regular feedback and support.

Life at Holmen

We follow a seasonal approach to dog care:

  • Spring/Summer (April–August): Rest, light training, and recovery activities for the dogs
  • Autumn (September–November): Conditioning and team building
  • Winter (December–April): Full tour season and performance phase

What We Offer

  • Accommodation in a shared apartment (private bedroom)
  • All meals provided
  • Access to a staff car and local gym
  • A unique opportunity to work with a seasoned and passionate team in the North
  • Competitive seasonal compensation (based on experience and year at Holmen)

Ready for the Adventure?

If you're excited about working closely with dogs, living in nature, and being part of a purpose-driven team, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply by sending motivational letter and CV to post@holmenhusky.no marked «Musher application» in subject.
