NORTHERN LIGHTS GUIDE — WINTER SEASON 2026/27

December 1, 2026

NORTHERN LIGHTS GUIDE

Seasonal position · December 2026–March 2027 · Full-time (100%)

Our philosophy: The Holmen Way

About the role

As our Northern Lights Guide, you’ll take small groups out in our 9-seater vehicle to look for clear skies and the aurora. You’ll read the forecast, choose the route, keep guests safe and comfortable, and help make the evening memorable—whether the lights appear or not.

You’ll also help guests photograph the aurora, make fire stops and serve hot drinks. During the day, you’ll drive guests and supplies where they need to go, and join the dog-sledding team as a guide.

This is a full-time winter position with late nights and a schedule that can shift with the weather and guest plans. A valid Kjøreseddel is required before your start date in December. Please confirm in your application that you have one.

Your main responsibilities

  • Plan and lead Northern Lights outings, including route selection, weather checks and guest safety
  • Drive our 9-seater vehicle safely on winter roads, including at night and in remote areas
  • Help guests photograph the aurora and share your knowledge of the night sky
  • Prepare fire stops and serve hot drinks
  • Handle airport transfers, guest pickups and other transport tasks
  • Guide dog-sledding tours alongside the musher team
  • Help with kennel routines and lodge tasks when needed

What we’re looking for

  • A valid Kjøreseddel before the season starts
  • Confidence driving in snow and ice, including at night
  • A warm, steady manner with guests
  • An interest in the aurora and night sky; camera experience is useful, but you can learn on the job
  • Good judgement and a safety-minded approach when plans or conditions change
  • Flexibility with late nights and a changing schedule
  • Fluent English; additional languages are an advantage
  • Experience with sled dogs, outdoor guiding or guest transport is a plus

Training and support

You’ll start by shadowing experienced guides on aurora outings and transfers. As you settle into the role, you’ll take on more responsibility, with regular feedback and support from the team.

All new crew members have a one-month trial period.

What we offer

  • Seasonal accommodation on-site or in a neighbouring property, with a private bedroom
  • Access to a staff car and the local gym
  • Seasonal pay based on experience
  • The chance to work with the team at Holmen Husky Lodge during the Arctic winter
