King crabs were first found in Norway in 1977. Originally native to the Northern Pacific Ocean, the King Crab was introduced by the Soviet Union in the 1960s to the Murmansk fjord. From here the King Crab spread rapidly along the Norwegian coast and even reached Svalbard. It is estimated that the King Crab came to Alta fjord around the year 2012.
Join the Arctic Wilderness Experience to the Alta fjord, where we will search for what some consider to be a prized delicacy. The experienced guide will let you in on local secrets and tell you stories revolving around the King Crab and history of the area.
